2013 NBA Free Agency Commences Today
Let the 2013 free agency games begin! As of today, struggling team DM's have officially gone fishing in hopes of getting a nibble. Bait? Dolla, dolla bill, ya'll.
Team owners who can offer the greenery will enjoy the scenery. There are big fish to be caught, with none bigger than Los Angeles Laker (for the time being) Dwight Howard.
Nowadays with the Lakers revolving door of a roster, Randy Newman's "I Love L.A." has been replaced with The Clash's "Should I Stay Or Should I Go". Lets take a look at how the free agency will affect the ever-changing Los Angeles Lakers.
Restricted Free Agent (RFA):
Robert Sacre - Received qualifying offer for $988,872. Yet to accept.
Unrestricted Free Agents (UFA):
Andrew Goudelock - After being called up for games 2, 3 and 4 for the playoffs, Andrew is most likely not returning.
Antawn Jamison - After a failed attempt at getting his 1st ring with the Lakers who'd just acquired Nash and Howard last offseason, and after making the veteran's minimum salary of $854,389, it's almost certain that Jamison will not return. Reportedly, he prefers to be near his family who live in Charlotte so his interest with the Wizards makes sense.
Chris Duhon - Will not return.
Darius Morris - Playing in the summer league but isn't expected to return as a Laker.
Devin Ebanks - Will not return.
Dwight Howard - If Howard decides to leave L.A., the Houston Rockets remain the frontrunner.
Earl Clark - Unknown. Has been rumored to workout with the Cleveland Cav's.
Jodie Meeks (2014 UFA - Team Option) - Lakers exercise their option and keep sharpshooter Meeks for another year at $1.5 mill.
Metta World Peace (2014 UFA - Early Termination Option) - Did not opt out of his contract and will remain a Laker for at least one more season.
